These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Caption Plug website at https://www.captionplug.com(the "Site") and your purchase of Caption Plug or Motion Plug software (each a "Software product"). By creating an account, making a purchase, or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. The Software itself is licensed under the separate End User License Agreement.

1. Who we are

Caption Plug is operated by Sarbaz Jan, trading as Caption Plug, an independent software business based in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@captionplug.com (our postal address is available on request for legal correspondence).

2. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address and keep your password confidential.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live).
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Site, attempt to circumvent purchase or license controls, or violate these Terms.

3. Purchases

  • Caption Plug and Motion Plug are separate products. Each is sold as a one-time purchase at the USD price shown before checkout (plus any applicable taxes). Neither is a subscription; there are no recurring charges.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself.
  • A purchase entitles the account that made it to the purchased product's private downloads, personal lifetime license for up to 3 machines you own, and the update series stated on that product's purchase page. Buying one product does not unlock the other.
  • Prices may change for future buyers; your completed purchase is never re-billed.
  • Refunds are handled per the Refund Policy.

4. Acceptable use of the Site

  • No attempting to access other users' accounts, purchases, or license keys.
  • No scraping, probing, load-testing, or attempting to bypass rate limits, signed download URLs, or other security measures.
  • No sharing, reselling, or publishing accounts, license activations, or download links.
  • No using the Site to distribute malware or unlawful content.

5. Intellectual property

The Site, both Software products, their preset animations, and the Caption Plug and Motion Plug brands are owned by us. Caption Plug's 62 bundled caption fonts are third-party open-source fonts under their own licenses (SIL OFL / Apache), which permit commercial use. Videos and graphics you create with either product are yours.

6. Third-party services

Caption Plug includes a local Whisper model for on-device transcription. If you choose an optional cloud transcription provider such as OpenAI or Groq, you use your own API key under your agreement with that provider. We are not a party to that optional relationship and are not responsible for those services, their pricing, or their availability. Adobe Premiere Pro is a product of Adobe Inc.; we are not affiliated with Adobe, Apple, or CapCut.

7. Disclaimers

The Site and Software are provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that transcription will be error-free (accuracy depends on the model and source audio), that the auto-censor will catch every word you'd want caught, that Motion Plug will track footage automatically, or that either Software product fits every Premiere Pro configuration. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Site or a Software product is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected product or service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost content, or demonetization decisions made by third-party platforms.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be flagged on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, excluding their conflict-of-law rules. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to sue at home.
