In the web studio, the full source video stays on your device. The browser extracts a short mono audio track and sends only that audio for transcription; caption rendering and final export happen on your device. In the Premiere plugin, the default local Whisper model keeps both video and audio on your computer.

No. Caption Plug includes a local Whisper model, so transcription is free, on-device, and available without an API key. OpenAI and Groq integrations are optional if you prefer cloud transcription. The browser studio handles its own transcription and does not ask you for an API key either.

The web studio gives you a focused caption workflow in a browser without requiring CapCut or a full editing app. The Premiere plugin removes the round trip completely: captions land frame-accurately on your existing timeline and the software is a one-time purchase. Pick the studio when you do not have Premiere; pick the plugin when Premiere is already your editor.

Yes. The web studio lets you fix every transcript word, change timing groups and styling, then re-export the same project for free. The plugin has two output modes: Animated clips for full per-word motion, or Editable text for a native Premiere caption track. Animated clips can be regenerated quickly after transcript changes; native captions remain directly editable in Premiere.

SFW mode masks profanity and sensitive terms in caption text and can add a 1 kHz bleep over swear and sexual words. It can also mute the original dialogue underneath each bleep. Every transcript word has an Auto, Allow, or Force control, so you can correct false positives and missed words before export.

No. Captions use Whisper word-level timestamps. The plugin rasterizes animated output frame by frame against the sequence frame rate, and the web studio renders against the source video's own timing, so there are no hand-built timing keyframes to drift.

Your Premiere plugin license covers you as a person on up to 3 computers you own. That can cover a desktop, laptop, and studio machine. Free an activation slot from your account whenever you switch computers.

Most major languages supported by Whisper. In both products you can leave the spoken language on automatic detection or choose it explicitly. Accuracy still depends on microphone quality, overlapping speech, accents, names, and background music, so review the transcript before export.

Yes. The 62 bundled caption fonts use SIL OFL or Apache licenses and are safe for monetized and commercial videos. Their licenses ship with the plugin.

The Premiere Pro plugin has a voluntary 14-day refund policy. If it does not fit your setup, email support@captionplug.com from the purchase email within 14 days. Unused browser-studio credit packages can also be refunded within 14 days; credits already used are deducted from the refundable amount.

Create an account, pay once through Stripe, and the Windows and macOS installers appear on your account page. Run the installer, open Caption Plug inside Premiere, and sign in with the same account. There are no license keys to copy, and updates install from inside the plugin.
